Are Arab Muslims better than reverts?

Islam teaches that all humans are equal in the sight of Allah, and that superiority is determined by piety (taqwa) and righteous deeds, not by ethnicity or lineage. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) emphasized this in his Farewell Sermon:

O people, verily your Lord is One and your father is one. Verily there is no superiority of an Arab over a non-Arab or of a non-Arab over an Arab, or of a red man over a black man, or of a black man over a red man, except in terms of taqwa.

Musnad Ahmad, 22978

This principle underscores that Arab Muslims are not inherently superior to reverts (those who embrace Islam from other backgrounds). Allah says in the Quran:

Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you.

Quran - 49:13
(interpretation of the meaning)

Islam was revealed as a universal message for all of humanity, transcending racial and cultural boundaries. Allah sent Prophet Muhammad ﷺ as a mercy to all worlds:

And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], except as a mercy to the worlds.

Quran - 21:107
(interpretation of the meaning)

Therefore, in Islam, an individual’s worth is measured by their faith and adherence to righteous conduct, not by their ethnic or cultural background.
